So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Romans 2:3 NIV
We do it. We do it all the time. Somewhere deep within each person we find room to set ourselves apart. We know what is good. We know what is not so good. But we always seem to think that it is someone else who fails to honor God. It is so much easier to see the insufficiencies in others. It is oh, so hard to recognize when those failures belong to us. We demonstrate from our willingness to be blind to our own offence to God, that we still stand so far away from Him. Those who truly press into the Presence of God are the only ones who are aware of their nakedness. Do we stop to check ourselves? Are we truly standing before the Lord, or just passing others there before His judgment?
What every dark force would have us do is to continue in our wrong thinking. We ourselves would prefer not to see the painful separation we create by not humbling ourselves. But it is only through this honesty that we can be saved. It is only by passing ourselves through God´s judgement that we seek His forgiveness. It is only by seeking Christ that we come to God. Shall we pray that every time we are tempted to pass judgement on another, that we trade places with them and are thus brought truly unto Jesus?
Dear Lord,
Help us see past the failures of others. Rather show us our own painful lack. Then let us seek You with urgency. Let us come before You now while there is still time to turn to You!
Amen
