Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience, for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” 1st Corinthians 10:25-26 NIV
They couldn´t read the menu. They could hardly understand the waiter. They tried, but gestures could only give a hint as to what the ingredients were to the dishes available. Each had been raised in a different far away land. Some had been taught to eat only certain foods. What were they to do?
We read our Bibles with an eye to support our beliefs. But, what about those poor people living in those foreign lands? Would we call them heathens? Would we have them convert to our tastes, to our interpretations, or to what we abstain from? The Bible teaches many things. To some, there are restrictions. To others. there is freedom. But to all Jesus Christ is given! To us, a Way has been opened to come unto God! Rather than hurling accusations, or making our eating and not-eating determine our salvation, shall we turn our attention to Jesus? Shall we find our nourishment in the Bread of Life? Shall we feast upon spiritual Food, and partake in the body of Christ? Shall we look beyond our earthly horizons, and eat what is the Lord´s today?
Please help us keep our focus upon getting You inside of us! Don´t let us lose our place at Your table because we are looking in the wrong direction. Let us hunger for, and seek You now in whatever we take in, we pray!
