Heavenly Home

Heavenly Home

For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.  2nd Corinthians 5:4  NIV

A good-hearted Christian woman once took a young man in to live with her in her house until he could get settled.  He was the same age as her own children and her husband was away a lot with his ministry.  It was nice having someone to talk to, but it did not last long.  The Lord was at work in the young man´s heart.  He was calling him out of his former earthly life.  It should have been a warm time of happy living for them there in that beautiful spacious house and gardens.  But instead, a deep yearning for our future Heavenly dwelling began to grow inside their hearts.  Are we also burdened with our need to let the mortal be swallowed up by Life?

We may love this world that God has made for us here.  But if we are able to see beyond God´s pleasant gifts, we may see the Giver.  The more we know the Wonder that Is our God, the more we will sense our need to be with Him.  Heaven calls the soul who would respond.  Our Savior would take our hand if we can recognize His outstretched arms.  We can come home to our place with God.  But first, we just need to be with Him.  Then we must cultivate our desire until our life begins to reflect our growing love.  Where are we today?

Dear Lord,

We yearn to be wrapped up in You!  Increase our desire after You until we are safely home in Your arms forever, we pray!

Amen
