Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 2nd Corinthians 5:6 NIV
They gave the man a tie and a button-up shirt. They had invited him to church, but his clothes just didn´t quite fit the occasion. When they got to church, he found himself in a large congregation. Everyone around him was so smartly dressed. He began to feel awkward. He remembered the humble church where he grew up. Back there people wore their best too, but that meant that they put on their newest, cleanest, or the least worn-out clothes they owned. Throughout the service that day, he struggled to find nourishment for his soul without focusing on the fashion parade he felt he was in. Has outward appearances ever hindered us from having our moment with God?
The person who has truly set out to find God will struggle to think that the maker of the stars could be impressed by the way we dress. Those honest souls will worry more about how they are dressed deep inside their hearts. Their eyes are not on what their suit is made of, or what the guy sitting next to them is sporting. Could we stand to examine how at home we are becoming in our bodies and whether our hearts are still far away from the Lord?
Please assist us in sweeping clean a place for You in our souls. Help us turn from looking at ourselves so that can make sure there is room for You in our hearts!, Ready us so that we don´t ever have to be away from You, we pray!
