So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Galatians 5:16 NIV
A man once struggled to live a good Christian life. There were too many exciting things to do in the world. Then one day he met God. The Holy Spirit began to stir. He began to teach. He visited the man in the still, quiet times. He came when he was alone. Our friend started to seek those times more often. He found that he needed those honest and sometimes painful moments. He realized his need to be in touch with the Divine. He started learning that the Christian walk is not just controlling our behavior. The true walk with the Lord is something that goes much deeper. Have we learned what it can be like to live by the Spirit?
We could try to remain pure in a world of distractions. For all of our fiddling, our inward lives will remain empty. But it does not have to go on this way! We can get down on our knees. We can ask the Spirit to come. We will have to get alone to start sensing the Presence of the Spirit of God. But in the stillness, our eyes can be opened. Could we pray that the Lord will stir deep within us? Could we pray that we stop focusing on what we see, what we do, and what we proclaim to believe? Shall we ask to be shown in living experience, what life can come to us if we could truly begin to live by the power of the Spirit of God moving in us today?
Help us to let go of our world and honestly seek You deep within our hearts. Help us to get still enough to recognize Your Presence with us here, now, and forevermore, we pray!
