The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Galatians 6:8
The children were playing one day behind their house when another kid from school came by. Their parents were not around. The visitor noticed the vegetable garden that the children´s father was cultivating in the backyard. He thought he would be funny and started pulling up carrots, potatoes, and stepping on the tomato plants. The other children were shocked but did not stop him. Then the boy discovered the heap of leaves and branches. He began stomping through it. He convinced the other children to join in the game. This is when their father came home. He took one look at his ruined garden and knew it was time for discipline. How often do we go along with what pleases us in the moment without stopping to think about what our Father is working on?
The Holy Spirit is forever working on restoring God´s children unto Him. We will need to be very attentive. We will need to care where He is working and what He has devoted time and effort on. If we are not sensitive to the work of the Lord, how will we ever be able to respond when we are called to give account? Jesus´ blood will cover for the wrongs we have done in our weakness, but we should be extra careful that it is Christ that we are with now? Shall we pray that we learn to please the Spirit before it is time to reap?
Dear Lord,
Please draw us near so that we do not get this wrong. Teach us to care and please You before we think of us, we pray!
Amen
