far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. Ephesians 1:21 NIV
A man wanted to pray with visitors that had come to study the Bible with him. But they said that they would pray if he insisted, but that they did not want to be present when he prayed. They were afraid he would say something that did not sit well with them. When he inquired about their reluctance to approach the Lord before opening the Word of God, they explained that they could only pray to the Father and never to the Son. How do we feel about praying to the One who came from Heaven to save us?
Just how the Father and His Son Jesus Christ are connected may be one of those mysteries that every reader of the Bible can have the joy of wondering over. It can thrill our hearts to let the Holy Spirit enter our hearts and walk us through the marvelous ramifications. It should be a theme that humbles us and increases our need for God. We should draw closer to Him as we see how incapable we are. The Scriptures give us many beautiful glimpses into the truth that Jesus is indeed the One worth seeking and coming to know. Who would like to bow with a humble heart and turn their meditations towards our Savior who is far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion? Who will pray to the One far above every other title that can be given in this age and the one to come?
