But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Philippians 1:18 NIV
“Jesus Freak!” They labeled him. It was not that he was always pushing the name of Jesus. He had merely made it clear that his hope and faith were in Christ. So they looked down on him. He was happy to wear the name Jesus, even if they used it to get to him. He continued trying to reflect the love of God. His honesty and concern for his coworkers soon took the edge off of their sarcasm. He was happy to wear the Name even if they scorned him. At least their jokes showed whose actions were more caring. How is the name of Christ upheld in the way people see us?
The darkness that has its grip on the world will never accept Jesus without putting up a fight. We have plenty of warnings in the Bible to prepare us for the contempt we will be shown. But what does it matter? The love of God and the sacrifice Jesus made for us are proven by our devotion to Him. If we continue to lift Christ up, then even those who try to tear us down still bring attention to the love of God. If we can reflect Jesus´ love, then we can rejoice! Anyone who cares to see where genuine love and care are found will be directed to the Source where we receive ours! Shall we look past the insults, strife, and envy? Shall we continue to spread God´s love and rejoice that through it others will contemplate Christ?
Let us suffer the insult, just let us know that You are lifted up. Help Your love in us bring others to see You, we pray!
