Compared to Christ

Philippians 3-8 - Compared to Christ

What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ  Philippians 3:8  NIV

A man had reached the top.  He had the kind of job we dream of.  His agent negotiated a good contract.  He got a car.  He got to travel in the company jet.  He had an incredible salary.  People treated him with respect. His opinion was valued in the meetings.  He had plenty of time off and he had a job that he loved doing.  He had it all, but it was not enough.  He needed our Savior in his life.  He did not know it yet.  But the Lord would slowly but surely show him.  What have we got that can compare to knowing Christ?

God had to remove somewhat painfully this man from his former life.  He was not always aware of where the Lord was leading him.  But he will testify today that it was all infinitely more worthwhile to gain Christ in his life than to keep his earthly high-life.  The things he has gained already in knowing Jesus are possessions that are to remain throughout eternity.  He has the Almighty to worship.  He has God as a friend!  He can walk with his Savior each and every step through all of life´s ups and downs.  His treasures are no longer cars, planes, or paychecks.  Those all pale now compared to walking on the clouds each day with the Son of God!  What could we give today to gain more of Jesus in our lives?

Dear Lord,

Help us make the trade!  Take anything You need to from us so that we can walk with You each day from now on, we pray!

Amen
