The Radiance

Hebrews 1:3 The Radiance

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.    Hebrews 1: NIV

They came down from Berlin to visit some friends in the South of Spain. They spent a few days going to the beach, eating outside in terraces, and walking around in quaint little towns. Before they left, their hosts asked the woman what she thought of the area. She said that it was a beautiful place and that she had enjoyed her visit. But the area was too bright. The constant warm sunlight was too much for her. She wasn´t used to hot climates and a sun that reflected off of everything. She was quite happy to return to her home where the clouds were a more common scene.

Jesus Christ the Radiance of God´s glory. He is exactly as His Father is. Through the Son, salvation has come to us. The words Jesus gives us hold eternal life. They guide us, heal us, and instruct us. Without Him, we have no hope. With Him, we become heirs of all the promises. He has gone to God´s side, to continue working on our return. His radiant light will burn deep into us. His brilliance may pierce us and make us uncomfortably aware of our own incompetence. But those who walk with the Son know the thrill of walking each day with the One we need.  Would we like to come to know the Radiance of God and live with Him forever?

Dear Lord,

Shine Your light on us! Pierces us, burn away the impurities, and change us to the core. Let us live in Your Radiance and with the hope of being in Your presence forever, we pray!
