Ministering Spirits

Hebrews 1-14 Ministering Spirits

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?  Hebrews 1:14 NIV

An elderly man went into the water at a crowded beach. The waves were big that day and were crashing hard on the sand. Every time he tried to exit, the waves knocked him down. This would not have been too bad, but the waves also pulled his pants down. He was more embarrassed than he was afraid of the water, so he struggled to pull his swimming suit up before shocking anyone on the beach. Just as he nearly got the swimsuit back on, another wave would tumble him over again. Two beautiful young ladies noticed the man struggling with the waves and ran over to help him. The sight of the gorgeous women running to him did not completely relieve the poor fellow, but it added to his embarrassment. How well do we receive the ministering spirits God sends to help us?

The Bible tells us much about angels. These mysterious ministers of God´s will are sent to assist us in life. As beautiful and helpful as they are, there is One far above them. Jesus Christ was sent to us as the perfect representation of the Father. His work in saving us is what everyone will need. Eternity hangs on whether or not we happily seek to encounter Him. The glorious angels will forever be our blessed helpers. But Jesus needs to be sought by us all. With Him, it will not matter how embarrassing our situation is, or how fierce the waves are. With Jesus, we can all come safely to God´s shore! Shall we take His outstretched hand, thank Him for His angels, and follow Him wherever He will lead us today?

Dear Lord,

Thank You for sending Your angels to help us, but increase our desire to reach out to and hold on to our Savior, we pray!

Amen
