In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Hebrews 5:12 NIV
The Karate Schools had trained their contestants hard, perfecting their skills for this moment. The lighter colored belts went first. The audience watched and cheered as the fighter´s skills became more exciting with their level of expertise. Then came the moment everyone was waiting for. The Black Belts stepped up to the main floor. The spectators watched in anticipation. Even the other contestants took their places to watch the masters perform their art. The tension was high. An unsportsmanlike blow instantly changed the already charged atmosphere into a highly touchy one. Another low blow brought every rival black belt and their trainers onto the floor. Years of training and skills were forgotten in a flash. The pros slapped and clawed at each other like school children. Could we too, need to check our elementary truths often, as Christians?
Our Christian walk was never intended to be a complex or difficult skill to attain. Instead, looking to Christ is to be for us, the most automatic and natural thing for us to do. We should be so in love with our Lord, that whatever the situation we find ourselves in, we should turn to Jesus and find Him right there with us. Shall we pray that the Spirit can feed us today with an elementary need to be right where Christ is and walk with Him through our entire day?
Help us to keep our faith as simple as that of a small child. Bring us humbly back to You! Restore Your elementary truths until we remain fully focused on You forever, we pray!
