Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 NIV
The two little boys held their daddy´s hand as they walked in a field near their house. It was a sunny day and the toddlers loved to explore. The older boy ran here and there finding sticks or rocks that he would pick up and carry for a while. The smaller one could barely walk and was happy to be hanging out with dad. All of a sudden, two big ferocious dogs came running from behind an old house. Barking and growling, they came to defend their territory. Dad gathered his boys close to his legs. He knew from experience that he could not pick them up. He needed his hands free. Instead, he signaled the dogs to stop while commanding them with his voice. Although he may have been terrified inside at what the outcome could have been. His children never saw fear in him and had faith that holding close to his legs would protect them. Do we know what faith is for us?
Fortunately, the dogs soon went away. The boys remembered more the adventure they had than the fright from the dogs. We too can have faith in the One who looks after us. He is the Author and finisher of our faith. It is a gift from Him and can sustain us no matter what threat may approach. Close to our Savior we can be sure of what we hope for. We can be confident that our eternal wellbeing is safely in Christ´s hands. We can be certain that Jesus will always be there and knows how to deal with even the unseen dangers. Shall we cuddle in closer to the Lord today and make sure that our faith is what saves us from whatever danger may come?
Let us draw so close to You that our trust is strengthened and we will feel safe as long as our faith is in You, we pray!
