Faith Is Seeing

Hebrews 11:27 Faith Is Seeing

By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible. Hebrews 11:27 NIV

The small motorboat flew across the deep waters of the sea. The driver could see the mountain on the island behind him and just the peaks of the next island in the distance. He headed to where he knew the large excursion boats had gone to look for whales. He needed to pick up the photos that were taken that day so they would be ready when the visitors arrived back on shore. But the swells of the sea were unusually big that day. They came in like mountains, building up into high ridges and then dropping into massive valleys between them. When he arrived at the spot on the map where the boats should be, he finally began to see the size of his situation. The man could not, for the life of him, see the giant catamarans with their tall masts. What does our faith show us?

Faith in God and faith in His Son are miracles. It is the most precious gift any human being can be given. When we find ourselves riding on life´s overwhelmingly tormented sea, our vision can be clear. We may only see the dangers that loom up over our heads. We may focus on those frightening drops into deep valleys of dark and uncertain times. But faith can let us see Him who is invisible. While our search may seem impossible, God can loom into view in our souls. The sight of Him will assure us that all will be well regardless of the turmoil around us. Faith in Jesus is seeing that He is here and that we are right where we are supposed to be. Our faith is strengthened as we focus it on Him. Shall we now?

Dear Lord,

Give our souls eyes to see only You! Keep our hearts focused on Your beauty no matter how rough our waters are, we pray!
