Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? James 2:5 NIV
They did not file into a church that morning but into grandma and grandpa´s living room. A dozen families squished onto the sofas and chairs and the children sat on the floor. They all sang along in accord with the piano. Someone read from the Bible. They prayed and listened to someone talk or a tape-recorded sermon. The scene was not the typical one of the glamorous churchgoers sitting in their attractive modern buildings with the latest in comfort and luxury. These worshippers were humbly gathering to invest their souls into a heritage in God´s Kingdom even if they should have to wait patiently for the day of Christ´s return. What are we doing to secure our inheritance and in which kingdom will it be?
The children who would be of God´s Kingdom may not be the picture of success here in our current scene. People can wear their fine suits and many of them chase the high dreams of this world. Unfortunately few today though, are interested in seeking the state of heart that God could fill. God knows the hearts that are being filled and fattened on what this world has to offer do not know what it means to hunger after Him. Perhaps we should have a look into our own souls now. Could we afford to have a look to see if we could do with a little less of what this world gives us in the hopes of attaining a little more of what the Lord would like for us?
Please help us focus our interests in what will last! Make us into souls driven after You and looking forward to being with You in Your Kingdom to come, we pray!
