Brother Against Brother

James 4:11 Brother Against Brother

Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. James 4:11 NIV

The boys were at it again. They could easily see the flaw in their brother. It did not sit well with them. They were going to let him know about it. They felt so sore over the actions or attitude of the other, that being long-suffering or kind was temporarily forgotten. They quarreled. They used their words as weapons against the other. They were so wrapped up in whatever the other had said or done, that the thought of God or having His love in them was not something they wanted to consider. The teachings of their concerned parents went ignored as well as their warning to leave their disputes. It was a sad moment to see brother against brother. Have we ever been there?

It hurts to see families and siblings giving in to harsh sentiments. A family is a precious treasure. It can be cherished or destroyed. God calls the stranger, our neighbors, and even those of another church, our brothers and sisters. He is our Father. We are family and followers of Jesus. We make them sad when our sentiments are not charitable towards the other children God places close to us. What a day it would be if we learned not to criticize or judge, but rather, to be there for them as family and show them God´s love in us. Shall we pray that we learn to care for, forgive, and encourage all those around us gently and lovingly just as Jesus showed us and tries to teach us to do in the great family of God?

Dear Lord,

Take out our conflictive tendencies and give us a heart that cares for others and reflects Your great heart, we pray!

Amen
