Being Built

1st Peter 2:5 Being Built

you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1st Peter 2:5 NIV

Separated by miles and even seas, they watched the house take shape. They had all built houses before but this time it was not just a job. This time the structure was for the youngest one to live in. Although not all his brothers could help him dig and pour the foundations, they lived each step through the photos and messages sent by new technologies. Soon the walls were framed and stood in their place. Next, the roof was put on. Each step was celebrated as a beautiful home slowly took form. Do we realize that we too are like a special house being built for the most special residence of all?

The family rejoices in the new homestead that the youngest boys built. We may not think of it much, but we too are being built right now as we speak. Our structure is to house the Spirit of the Lord if we are fortunate enough. It has been God plans all along. He drew up the blueprints long ago and has never rested. He works unseen to bring a most peculiar, yet beautiful structure to completion. Room is being made in our hearts. Beams and foundations are being laid. All that we are, is carefully pieced together to make a structure that can house the One who even the heavens cannot contain. There will be much back-breaking labor and even setbacks. But if we would like to see something that will stand the test of time, we could work along with the Lord and encourage His work in us. Shall we pray that God is able to make room in our hearts so that He can come in and live with us there?

Dear Lord,

Come dwell in us today! Make room, make a house where Your Spirit can live in warmth and comfort, we pray!
