God´s Time

2nd Peter 3:8 God´s Time

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 2nd Peter 3:8 NIV

In a fish pond in the garden, a family kept a baby crocodile that somebody had found. Time went by and the cute little croc got bigger. They built a fence around the pond so that “Smiley” would not end up surprising anyone or choosing to find his own dinner. Eventually, the family decided from his hungry look, that it was no longer safe to keep him in the yard. So they decided to release him into the wild. The day came but they could not catch him. Once he knew that they were looking for him he hid. The only thing they could do was to drain the pond. They started bailing water. It took forever. It seemed to take even longer because you never knew just when a hundred teeth would jump out at you. Have we ever felt like it was taking too long to wait on God and His time?

All ended well with the little crocodile and everyone got to keep their appendages. It took time, but the croc was eventually found, caught, and released in a dam full of fish to eat. We may not always understand God´s timing for the things in our lives. We can be sure that God knows exactly when the timing is right. He may not be worrying about how painful it is for us to be patient. But He knows that whatever we go through can serve to draw us closer to Him. Anything that draws us closer to God is infinitely good. We can thank the Lord for murky waters, threatening teeth, and even the seemingly endless hours. God is working on His perfect plan for us! Shall we edge in a little closer to Him and just keep bailing?

Dear Lord,

Teach us to trust You and let You set the time. Draw us near, increase our faith, and move in Your good time, we pray!

Amen
