If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 1st John 4:20
A certain church member stood firmly on her declaration of faith. She had ready texts to back up all her well-intended actions. She was very quick to see if any of the youth were backsliding or behaving in a manner that was not up to church standards. She could also detect when a person had views that did not match the doctrines of the church. But for all the ways she thought that she was herding the lost back into the fold, her harsh and often cruel manner just pushed young believers further away. In fact, when some of the budding Christians stopped going to church altogether, it was not because they no longer believed in God. It was because critical church members like that woman gave religion a bad image. Are we sure that our actions reflect the love of God?
The Bible tells us that one day God will have to decide who stands with Him and who does not. It also says that many who say they love Him will not care to take the time to make sure they reflect His love in their lives. If we could make it important enough, we could go out of our way to get to know the God of Love. When we do, we will not need to arm ourselves with strict rules and convincing doctrines. Spending quality time learning from Him, talking with Him, and observing the Way His love flows out to all His children should begin to rub off on us. So, how about if we could all throw ourselves deep into God´s arms of love and invite the rest of the world to do the same?
Let us love You so much that all our brothers and sisters can see Your love through us, we pray!
