Believe God

1st John 5:10 Believe God

Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 1st John 5:10 NIV

Once, a young man who had grown up in a Christian home found himself pressed up against a wall. His brothers who were then in university were studying philosophy. They had the same upbringing in the church, but now with their charming and intelligent professors walking them through the clouds of speculation, they firmly attacked the faith that they had once held. The man tried to defend their former faith in God, but it was no use. These new beliefs were far more exciting. To them, they were more reasonable than taking Gods testimonies to heart. In the end, the young man had to stop arguing with them and keep his faith to himself. How do we feel about the invisible God´s claims of love?

Much of what God does is visible while He Himself is hidden from our view. Often, we are left to sense the Lord using no more than our hearts. This is not always the easiest thing to do and many people prefer to trust only their heads. We would give up our chance to walk with the Son of God just to be able to say that we are wise and do not need a Savior. Thankfully, both Father and Son are in the business of forgiving. They have overlooked all of our insufficiencies in the hopes of spending forever with us. They can help us where our faith is weak. Shall we pray with our friend, that none of our brothers and sisters will miss any promise that God has for them and that we can all be with the Lord forever?

Dear Lord,

Give us hope in You. Give us faith even if the whole world would keep us from You. Take us all into Your arms, we pray!

Amen
