Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written in it, for the time is at hand. Revelation 1:3 WEB
That day they had to go to the big church in the city. They got all dressed up and drove down. As they parked the car, they met other friends who had made the journey too and would be in the ceremony. Holding their tiny children´s hands they filed in through the huge front doors of the church. They found one of the only seats left that were near the back and sat down. Then the service started. When the preacher began his sermon they soon realized that they were not from this church. Words were thrown out there not spoken to reach into the heart. Rituals were performed to give the impression of holiness, but no real message was given to help their hearts step into the presence of God, meet with Him, or learn how to make their walk with Him sweeter and more intense. Are we the blessed ones who hear words that bring us to the Lord?
Looking around that day the visitors to the church were not the only ones who came away unfed. Sometimes we need to do a little searching to find the place where our hearts can be opened and receive a fulfilling word from above. Blessed are the ones who hear a word of God that actually helps them realize that the Lord is here and that we can come to know Him. Blessed are those who receive instruction not on rituals or mere doctrines, but on the character, the close proximity, and the love Jesus has for us. Shall we pray that we are blessed today and hear words that we can take to heart?
Time is short. We do not know how much more we will have. So bless us now with words of You that will fill us, draw us close to You, and thrill our hearts for all time, we pray!
