Alive or Dead

Revelation 3:1 Alive or Dead

“And to the angel of the assembly in Sardis write: “He who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars says these things: “I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.  Revelation 3:1  WEB

When a couple went to live on an island that had a volcano, all the locals told them that the volcano was still active. “One of these days, she will blow again,” they said. They were told stories of when it had gone off the last time. The thought of having the island you are living in explode can be quite unnerving. The couple did not know how to take this information. But, as time went by and nothing happened, the feeling of uneasiness slowly disappeared. What kind of reputation do we think we have?

For a volcano to have a reputation for being alive but then seem to be dead can be a blessing. But for people who are supposed to be known for their faith, it is quite another matter. Christians are supposed to live their lives as if they have been reborn. We are to give off the sensation that new life is welling up inside of us. The love of God should be evident through every contact we have with those around us. We cannot stand on a mere reputation. We need to live out our faith each and every day. We need to be so in love with our Lord, our Savior, our Guide, that others can feed off of our enthusiasm and find comfort in our faith. Shall we pray today that our walk with Christ brings renewed life to all we say and do?

Dear Lord,

Let us walk so closely with You that all those around us may be warmed by the intensity of our relationship with You. Let us be so alive with Your love and our faith in You that anyone can easily see that we are truly Yours, we pray!
