When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.   Revelation 6:9

At a birthday party, a family was introduced to another couple. For a good part of the party, they chatted away getting to know the new acquaintances. The families did not see each other in the two or three weeks that followed. Then one day, the news came that a couple had been murdered in their town. It sounded impossible, but it turned out to be the new couple. They had been tragically killed in their own home. It all seemed so pointless. Have we ever wondered at what a shame it is, when we heard of someone dying?

Many horrible things happen here on earth. Most of which may seem pointless and sad. Then we have God´s eternal plan which is unraveling right in front of our eyes. There are people the world over who have sacrificed of themselves. Some have even let this world rob them of their very lives. They have given their every breath, right to their last, to see God lifted up. These are precious souls who have lost it all in the hopes of seeing our Lord glorified in any way possible. We may think it is terribly sad. However, the Bible tells us that their reward is as sure as the God who set that spark of hope within them. We, who would dare to place our lives in the hands of the Almighty, may willingly lose anything and everything else here in this life. This is because Jesus sacrificed His life first and now we who follow Him can hope to receive life too! We can join our voices today to sing praises to the Lamb? Let´s turn our lives into a testimony to the One who will save us all?

Dear Lord,

Let this world take anything it will from us, even our very lives. Just promise us again that we will be with You, we pray!
