The Fortunes Of God´s People

Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Yahweh restores the fortunes of his people, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. Psalm 14:7

An easy mistake to make would be to think that God needs to turn our financial situation around. Many texts in the Bible tug on the strings of our hearts. We read of our lands returning to us or our fortunes restored. Some promises can bring that kind of consequence. Still, God´s intended purposes float ever higher.

God´s wisdom and foresight reach unfathomable heights. He works towards goals that we have not begun to imagine. Warm feelings flood over us at the thought of a cozy home on earth. And we assume that our unseen God would go to any lengths to kindly reward our wishes. Yet there is more. He loves to surprise and pamper us, but this home only houses us for a time. It cannot compare with the Great Family Estate that He is preparing to share with us. This home on earth more resembles a caravan parked somewhere out of the way on a plot. Our Father is placing the finishing touches on the mansion for us to move into.

When full light comes to our eternal housing arrangement, it will blow us away. Every last one will declare, “How great is our God!” Nothing we ever imagined will compare. All that we endure here will fade. Our hearts will race in bewilderment when our Savior ushers us into the Home that outshines the sun!

Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Yahweh restores the fortunes of his people, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.  Psalm 14:7
