The trumpets sound, and the drumroll begins – All rise in anticipation for the King´s arrival on stage. Emotions start to overwhelm the audience as we wait with bated breaths. As the moment approaches when we will finally meet the One whom we have waited for so long, a thought comes to mind. It is a doubt. We begin to see how awkward this is. How can such common folk stand in the presence of such royalty? These rags on our backs are not elegant enough to be seen with the King! And what about our resume? Our small and insignificant offerings must seem ridiculous. Tension mounts as our predicament becomes evident to us. Oh, who are we trying to fool? We are not worthy!
But wait! The Prince we are preparing to meet has been here too! Jesus humbled Himself and wore our rags. He walked these streets. And He set His hope and His devotion on the Father above. He suffered just as we have, and His only thought was to do God´s will. He is the One we have come here to see. We have learned to love Him because He first loved us. So great was His love for us that He left His throne to come and save us! Now, He is coming again to take us into His arms! So let us feel the fear, and rejoice in our trembling! We are preparing to meet our Lord. He has been yearning for this encounter much longer than we have!
Dear Lord,
Let us find our wisdom and our worth in seeking You. Let us choose You and Your will over all that may try to distract us. Let us spend all eternity with the quest of growing ever closer to You, we pray.
Amen
