Repent, then, and turn to God, so that our sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, Acts 3:19
Here is our call. It was first taken up by Jesus. It was the message of the apostles. It is the cry of our age too. Whoever does not listen has already chosen their path. All eternity hangs upon our response. But is it a subject we like to look at? Is it an integral part of each day? What are we doing with it? How far do we take it? Do we ever stop to think? Are we really repenting? Are we?
To turn away from one thing we must understand what we are turning from. Are we merely turning away from offensive actions that we have committed in the past? Would a God as grand as ours belittle Himself by weighing acts in the same way we do? Or would the God Who made the universe look beyond our resulting actions and see the cause of our revolt? Can God look straight into our hearts to see who we are truly trying to please?
It is our part and it will be to our credit to see that it is not to ourselves that we owe our devotion. Shall we pray that today we may see clearly how seriously we are seeking to honor God? How intent are we on cultivation our relationship with Him? Shall we pray for help in repenting from our staying attention? Shall we ask for help from above to assist us in turning always to Him?
Forgive us for ever looking to ourselves and to our distractions. Give us strength and urgency today to repent and turn to You now and always we pray!
