God With Us

“Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him  Acts 7:9 (NIV)

Some days look bleak.  Some situations in life seem to be so bad that no good could ever come out of them.  We have all had those dark times.  Perhaps we are in the middle of them now.  There seems to be no light anywhere to be seen.  When or how could this ever end?  How on earth can we hope for a happy ending?

It is natural to get down.  But what we fail to see as we focus on our own misery is that God is still here.  He is still with us.  He is working out His great plan to bring us Home to Him right now!  When we seek closeness with God, we have Him to lean upon.  This is not a psychological trick or helpful viewpoint that we can use.  It is the Presence of a very dear and essential Friend.  It is standing close to the One in charge of the outcome of our entire race.  It is placing ourselves right before the caring director of our universal scene!  It is being with the One Who wants to be with us!

As we face our dark days of trial, shall we seek to see with God´s eyes instead of ours?  Instead of focusing upon our own misery, could we lift our hearts in hope and let them find ourselves in His Presence and care?  Can we use our circumstances to throw us more fully on and closer to the One Who will always be with us?

Dear Lord,

Sometimes our misery looms up in our faces.  Please help us to see past it and focus on being with You!  Assure our hearts as we seek Your Presence, that our God is right here with us!

Amen
