The Most Holy Place

Hebrews 9:8 the most holy place

The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing. Hebrews 9:8 NIV

The impressive flights of stairs led up out of the Asian jungle into the face of the cliff in the mountain. The massive dark entrance was decorated with stalactites which loomed ever bigger as the visitors neared the top of the stairs. Birds and monkeys moved in and out of the giant temple in their search of food and handouts. Once inside, the cave loomed up like a dimly lit, yet enormous cathedral. There were shrines embedded in little coves in the walls. The smoke and fragrance of incense filled the air creating an unreal and dreamlike atmosphere. Small parties of tourists and worshippers moved about in the low light. As one made their way deeper into the cave, it opened up again to sunlight in places where one could see the blue sky above. Would we like to find our way into the Most Holy Place that God has now shown to us?

The Hebrews of old built a temple following the instructions God gave to Abraham. In it, there was a sacred place where only the High Priest could enter. Then God gave us Jesus. He is our new High Priest and also our Way into the Most Holy Place. That sacred place is not a physical location on our planet. It is the awesome throne room of God. It is in the actual Presence of God. Only Christ can take us there. He is the only One worthy. But He was sent to us for that very purpose. Shall we take His hand and let Him take us where God has always wanted us to go?

Dear Father in Heaven,

Show us our Way! Give us our Guide today! Move us to let Christ guide us where our hearts have always dreamed of going! Let us come unto You in wonder and awe, we pray!

Amen
