Faith Above Lions

Hebrews 11:33 Faith Above Lions

who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, Hebrews 11:33 NIV

Leaving a National Park one day, some visitors stopped by the office building. They were greeted by an elderly man with a strange smile. His face was wrinkled terribly and when the guests left, one of the children remarked about his unaesthetic appearance. He was told not to be too harsh on the man. Apparently, the man had worked as a ranger in a part of Africa where only wild animal roamed. One night lions attacked their camp. There was a frantic battle where weapons were jammed and shots fired. The man thought he had gone blind because he could not see anything. But what really happened was that the skin on his head had been pulled down over his eyes. Eventually, the Rangers were able to pull the man´s head out of the lion´s mouth and shoot it. Then they had to carry the man through the night to get him out to medical care. Do we think God can shut the mouths of lions even in our day?

Our heroes of faith experienced all kinds of wonders as God moved powerfully in their lives. But the Almighty God is still God today! He has not lost His strength or His willingness to save us. The Lord is anxious to move the moment He sees a spark of faith burning in our hearts. Shall we take that step today? Shall we start trusting in our Savior in a Way that brings God into the darkness where we fumble now? Shall we draw near to Jesus in faith and let Him lead us into the sure embrace of our Heavenly Father now?

Dear Lord,

Give us faith to seek and to follow You! Move powerfully and save us from all that would hold us away from You, we pray!

Amen
