That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 1st John 1:1 NIV
The children fidgeted in the pew in the church building. They had grown up far away from this boarding school and were not comfortable in these dress clothes and shiny shoes. It was difficult to focus on the preacher who droned on about some serious subject. He was completely oblivious to the fact that someone in the congregation could only think of getting outdoors to play. These young souls longed to be back out there in God´s great creation, finding wonderful creatures, amazing bugs, and exploring every rock, tree, and bush. What do we call the Word of Life?
Jesus Christ is called the Word sometimes. The Bible too is called to Word of Life. To some, these are just things to talk about in an elaborate building or once a week. But this is not the case for some. There have been people from every age who actually see and know the Word of Life. There are people who walk with the wonder that is our God. They have explored more than the message that was passed on to them by another. They are like those children who were restless until they got to get down and dirty. We too can come to know the Word that brings Life. We can experience the thrill of walking through the gardens of this life with the giver of real life. We will know what real living is when our souls actually do come into contact with the Word of Life. Let us press on to see that our pews and our explorations bring us into the presence of God too!
Dear Lord,
Let the Word we hear today be the Word of Life. Let us hear You, explore Your wonders, and truly be with You, we pray!
Amen
