Hot or Cold

Revelation 3.15 Hot or Cold

“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot.  Revelation 3:15  WEB

The girls loaded up into a car to go and meet with the rest of their friends. They had agreed to let a new boy from a different country ride with them. He was not the most confident in himself, but he had a great sense of humor so the girls liked having him around. He was quite a tall fellow but he wanted to sit in the back seat between two of the prettier girls. While they were driving down the road, he talked with them jokingly. He would have loved to have started up a relationship with one of the girls, but he did not know how to make the move. So half-joking and half-seriously, he turned to one of the girls and said, “Kiss me!” He puckered up his lips to make it easy for the girl to accept his offer. But the girl just burst out into laughter. Have we ever demonstrated to God that we are neither hot nor cold towards Him?

The boy´s playful attempt at romance is still fondly remembered today. But it did not work back then and it will certainly not get us very far with the Lord either. If we are not determined and take deliberate steps to grow our relationship with God, then we may never really come to know Him. If we cannot move ourselves to build up hope and a little faith in Jesus, then we could miss entering the greatest relationship of our lives. Shall we pray for a spark of interest to walk with Christ may be ignited in us and fanned into a raging flame that consumes us and grows hotter each day as we come to know Him more?

Dear Lord,

Give us an intense desire to be with You, to learn more of You each day, and to walk with You in the sweetest relationship of our lives. Let our passion for You burn within us, we pray!

Amen
