What Not to Trust

Revelation 3:18

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.  Revelation 3:18  WEB

The boss boasted of his success. “God has given me a sharp business mind so that I can build a lucrative business for Him,” he said. “I can then do things for the needy people with the excess that I earn.” To the young ladies that worked for him, we was usually quite pleasant. But, he was so full of himself and loved to strut around showing off his fortunes that it was difficult to see how much was being left over to give to the Lord´s needy children. Is there any way that we may have turned to think of earthly gains before seeking the important things of God first?

It may seem like the most innocent thing to do to strive for a more luxurious car or home. We may think that it is harmless enough to want to earn more money or get further ahead in life. But it is more important than we think, to focus on where we really want to find our gain. If we strive for earthly success, we may just get it. But still, God calls from a place that we do not yet see. He beckons us beyond all our current imaginings. He urges us to choose to gain things that will far outlast everything else we could attain here on earth. We could gain a place by His side, in His presence, and in His Kingdom. Who would like to choose to walk quietly with their Savior today while the rest chase their temporary dreams? Let´s choose a relationship with the King that will last forever, shall we?

Dear Lord,

While the rest of the world seeks earthly ends, help us to trade it all for the everlasting treasures of knowing You, we pray!
