Open the Door

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me.  Revelation 3:20  WEB

They ran an ad in the paper to try and sell their car. The family was moving to another country and could not take it with them. There was not much time, but miraculously, someone called. The man on the phone said that he was coming from a few hours away but would be there by evening. But by nightfall, he still had not arrived. Eventually the family went to bed. At three o´clock in the morning, there was a knock on the door. The family was afraid. “What shall we do?” The husband went out. Within twenty minutes the papers had been signed and the money paid. Have we ever had to decide whether or not to open the door?

The same Jesus who died for us says that He is calling us. It is a call to action. He is asking us to stop mulling things over in our minds and withholding our hearts from making a plunge. We need to put away our misgivings and our procrastinations if we want to take Christ up on His offer. We need to open the door to our hearts and take a step out in faith. If we would set our hope in Him instead of the way we see our situation, He will see to the change. But we need to listen for His voice. We need to respond. He is wise and powerful enough to bring the miracles to life! We can let Jesus into our lives, our moment, our day, what we experience there with Him will blow us away! Who will open the door today?

Dear Lord,

We are so slow to hear and even slower to respond. Give us the inspiration today to throw the doors open between You and us so that we can always be together, we pray!

Amen
