The First Trumpet

Revelation 8:7

The first sounded, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. One third of the earth was burnt up, and one third of the trees were burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.  Revelation 8:7  WEB

In the middle of the night in a campground somewhere in Portugal, all of the holiday campers were awaken to the threat of an approaching wildfire. Their predicament was frightening because tents and caravans would be easy fodder for the blaze and there we not enough exits to the camping to let all of the people to flee. What fears do we have when we read of the end of times?

The campers that night were all saved as they watched a single fire truck put out the blaze while God held back the wind. NASA.gov provides data that shows how our climate change is producing larger and more severe fires as Australia and various places in the world. We are experiencing record numbers and damages by wildfires. Whether or not we are experiencing the first trumpet sound, the lives of many people are affected. When we hear of such a disaster, something should be moved deep within our hearts. Mankind should be human enough to humble ourselves and allow ourselves to care. We should also think of God. We could all bow down on bended knee and hold out our hearts to Him. If we did, He could draw us near. The Almighty, who is working out His great plan of salvation, will not leave His trusting children to suffer long. So for the days that we have left, let our planet, the Bible, the shocking news, and everything around us turn our hearts to God! Let us pray to Him today and ask Him to be the shelter we run to!

Dear Lord,

Your children wonder at the troubled times we live in. Let us come so near to You now that You can save us, we pray!

Amen
