Sing to the Lord

They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God, the Almighty! Righteous and true are your ways, you King of the nations.  Revelation 15:3  WEB

An invitation from friends left the couple sitting in a pew in a church near Christmastime. They were not used to attending this particular church but were happy to go there with their friends. It was an evening service and the lights dimmed. A girl stepped up onto the stage and began to sing. She was singing “Oh, Holy Night,” and her voice rang out with such conviction and strength over the hushed congregation. It was a magical moment that left the couple with goose-bumps on their skin and tingling in their souls. Have we ever been touched by a song?

Singing comes out best when it comes from a heart that is overflowing. Perhaps this is why churches are a good place for songs. When a soul meets the God of love, it is sure to overflow with all kinds of goodness. Our prophecy shows us people who have come through the last great conflict. They stand in Heaven on the sea of glass. Overwhelmed with all they see of God and His Kingdom, they sing out their praises. It is one of the most beautiful descriptions the Bible lets us see. Our imaginations do not go far enough to picture God. But, this sea of glass and heart-thrilled worshippers are something we can all appreciate. Wouldn´t it be nice to share in that wondrous song one day? Let us pray that we all will and that we may start looking forward to it in rising anticipation!

Dear Lord,

Give our hearts something to shoot for. Let us long to be among those who sing praises to You in Your Kingdom soon, we pray!

Amen
