The city has no need for the sun, neither of the moon, to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb. Revelation 21:23 WEB
The adventurers switched on their flashlights and stooped slightly as they descended into the mouth of the cave. Within minutes the cave made a slight bend they found themselves in utter blackness. Using the light that the flashlights gave off, they were able to make out the walls and ceiling of a massive lava tube that went horizontally under the surface of the desert for nearly a half-mile. Their lights helped them navigate over the uneven damp floor of the tunnel until they reached the very back of the cave. There they switched off their lights to appreciate the complete blackness of the dark. They were all grateful though, to have their lights to help them find their way back to the entrance safely. Do we know the One who is called the Lamp?
The Lamb of God is called the Lamp. He shines a light that nobody can do without. It is impossible to come to God the Father unless we have the way illuminated for us. Christ came to us for this very purpose. He stands for all times as the Lamp that leads our hearts to God. The Lamp that shines in Glory is the very One who laid His life down to save us. In the glow of His love and presence, we do not have to stumble around in the darkness. When we look to the Lamb, all becomes clear and He can show us where to place each step. Shall we draw near the Lord today so that we will have all the illumination we need to get us through our day and forever?
Dear Savior,
Be our Lamp as we step closer to You. Comfort us to know that You will always illuminate what we need to see in heavenly realms and bring us safely home to our Father, we pray!
Amen
