His parents didn´t even know he had entered a competition. It was just something his teacher had asked his class to do. They all drew a picture and the teacher sent them in to a regional competition. The first his parents heard about it was when they got a note from the school to say that he had won a prize. They needed authorization from the parents so that the child could be absent from school the day they gave the award. Needless to say, the parents were very excited and happy for the child for his achievement and thrilled that he would be rewarded. How do we feel when Christ says He is coming soon and He is bringing our reward with Him?
There is one thing people often think nowadays when they hear that Christ is returning soon and those who chose to love Him will be rewarded. They think that because of their actions they will have gained the right to enter into heaven and be heirs to all the treasures there. This may be true to some extent but it is completely wrong in certain terms. It is wrong in that if the golden streets and mansions are what we desire, we will never make it there. If Christ is our treasure, then our reward comes to us when He comes to us. In this way, He can say that His reward is WITH HIM. If we try to separate Christ from His reward, there is no reward at all and certainly not for those whose greatest desire is to be with Him. We can and will be the recipients of the greatest reward available to mankind. If the Lord is what we truly desire, then He will come to us. He will be our treasure. As God is without limits, our joy, and our reward will be too!
Dear Lord,
Let our hearts yearn to be with You above all else! Be our treasure today and every day throughout all eternity, we pray!
Amen
