Nobody knew much about the film that was chosen for the family to watch that night. Someone just put it on. It turned out to be about a giant meteorite that was discovered heading directly towards the earth. The leading actors tried their best to get the world around them to take serious action and to try to save mankind and our planet. But the government was too concerned about political or personal issues. Businesses were too wrapped up in controlling the markets. The media was too busy capturing the focus of society. And, nobody else wanted to take serious thought of the fact that we might not have as much time as we would like to do the things that please us. Will we think of the end even if it makes us uncomfortable?

The point of the story turned out to be that even though we may not like to think of the deeper things in this life, time is slipping through our fingers and there is much that is out of our control. God was mentioned and in the final moments of the film, He was the One they ultimately turned to right before time ran out. It was not a religious film, but it does show that when all the superficial things are taken away, mankind has very few things that truly matter. What we are left with when we face our end, is whether God is here and where we stand with Him. We can all ignore Him or shake our fists at Him. But when nothing else will save us and we face our final end, we might want to know the One who is called the Beginning and The End.

Dear Lord,

Help us find our end in You who is also called the Beginning. That way we can gladly say goodbye to all that was wrong before and embrace the start of something endless and beautiful together with You, the God who loves us, we pray!
