The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” He who hears, let him say, “Come!” He who is thirsty, let him come. He who desires, let him take the water of life freely. Revelation 22:17 WEB
The baby was really small. When he was born the doctors were concerned because he had been losing weight in the womb. He had trouble regulating his own temperature the first few hours so the nurses kept a close watch on him. When they put the baby to his mother, he did not take immediately to her milk. He needed to learn. He would get tired trying. But the Lord was with him and his mother did not give up either. When he learned how to get his milk, he gained weight quickly. He was so cute with his chubby little cheeks. It was like the child knew what being thirsty was and finally found a way to fill that thirst. Do we know what it is like to be thirsty?
If we can sense the emptiness within us that can only be filled by the Lord, we can be filled. It could be us. We could be the ones who realize that our souls thirst after the God who made us and loved us enough to die for us. There is nothing in this world that can quench our deepest thirst. Men and women try all sorts of things to satisfy the empty sensation inside but only drinking from the Fountain of Life will fill us. Those who have tasted the Lord, those who have gone to Him and had their thirst satisfied know how sweet it is. They testify and encourage others to learn to feed from God too. So let us taste and give Him a try. Pray that we learn to feed from the Lord and then give ourselves over to that thirst. There is nothing that should keep us from drinking daily from the water of life.
Dear Lord,
Let us taste how sweet it is to be with You. Then, when we know how filling it is to be in Your presence, let us thirst always for that closeness and seek You with great desire, we pray!
Amen
