When We Encounter God

7. Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, 8. who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of waters. Psalm 114:7-8

It may take a lifetime of searching, but the moment we realize that we have broken through into the presence of God is an experience that will mark us forever. Not only is it worth it for the thrill of that moment, but it more than rewards any effort that it took to get there. In an instant, all theory disappears. It vanishes because now we have met what before we could only hope for. Doubt too, it is nowhere to be found because we have reached intimacy with the Unseen and have experienced His overwhelming presence that is far greater than what we called hard proof before. All theory pales, no, it vanishes when real experience is lived through. Perhaps we will not be able to explain it afterward, but our walk will not be the same. From the moment we have truly bowed to God and been ushered into His presence we will know the One who walks with us.
