We would do well to carefully guard ourselves against any smug sense of security. Although we have chosen to call ourselves Christians, the battle over our souls has not ended. It has surely just intensified. The enemy of our Lord will not forgive us for turning our interests towards God and will have to use progressively greater tricks to stunt our spiritual growth. With this knowledge in mind, we should daily renew our efforts to draw near our Savior and learn from Him how to place each footstep. Our need for Him should grow as we see our faith coming under heavier attack. Our faith in Him and our desire for Him should increase too as our relationship grows through every single test. The closer we grow to our God, the easier it will be to focus on Him and not our earthly lives. Oh, what a blessed relief!
