We get the choice, and we each use it to find a group without thinking of it. The word “some,” used in the Bible, describes a whole group of people. More than just a number, it represents a type of person. We see from our text that quite a few turn to human technology. Others trust in strength, like those who would move with the size and power of horses in battle. And then there comes another group of people. Unlike the ones who turn to worldly things, it is difficult to say how many form part. All we know is that we, no matter how few, turn to God.
Contrast these groups of people all you want, but similar results keep coming up. The majority look to all the things that humans do under the sun. But we, those born apart, look to God. We may have a lonely sojourn here. That is okay. While the battles rage all around, our eyes and hearts are with One whose glory and might outshine the sun!
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust in the name of Yahweh our God. Psalm 20:7
