As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 1st Peter 4:2 NIV
The two men had grown up together. Now they were both recently married. They left their wives at home one day and drove down into the valley to do some business. They finished early and on their way home, they decided to take a small detour. They turned off onto a dirt road that wound through the hills. They wanted to play in the mud with the truck. And, the road would take them towards their home, only it would be much more fun than the paved road. Then they found a puddle. They drove the pickup straight into it. The wheels slipped in the mud. They slid further off the road. They got stuck. Now they would be late getting home to their wives who knew nothing of their whereabouts. What do we live for?
The two men had spent their whole lives dreaming of or chasing a good time. This time, however, they realized that there are obligations not only to put a smile on our face. We all have another obligation that we may not think about. That obligation is towards the God who made us and redeemed us. God waits for us to take Him seriously. It is far more important to appreciate His efforts of bringing our hearts to Him than it is worrying our wives needlessly. Could we stop fooling around and start seeking Christ in our lives? Let´s make God´s will that important to us now!
Never let us downplay the sacrifice You have made for us or the love that You have shown. Let us turn our lives around and start driving hard after You until we find ourselves in Your will, we pray!
