This Is My Son

2nd Peter 1:17 This Is My Son

For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 2nd Peter 1:17 NIV

The boys were not usually there when their father spoke about them. They might not have even known that he felt the things he said about them. But when their dad was telling someone something about his children, you could hear the love and pride in his voice. It was almost like the guy´s chest was swelling up with the pressure of it. He wanted to convey some story or some facet of his child and, although the words were tough for him to find, his enthusiasm made up for the simple explanation. The father would sometimes try to let his kids know how much he loved them. But often they were limited to a simple, “I love you!” or an arm on the shoulder. Do we know how much our Heavenly Father loves us?

Jesus spent enough time with His Father that He surely knew the intensity of God´s love. We may not have walked that close to either our earthly father or our Heavenly one. Yet if we read our Bibles, the Truth is sure to leap out at us. God glorifies His Son and He will glorify all the children who have put their love into that Son too! This can be us! We can be the children of the Lord! We can be special! We can walk near to both the Father and His beloved Son! We can do it anywhere and at any time. If we are serious about it, we can walk with the Lord all through our day! Shall we start now? Perhaps we too can hear those words again!

Dear Lord,

Tell us again those words we love to hear! Tell us that we are loved with the Love You showed us in Your Son, we pray!

Amen
